I was walking real easy along a native grass field today when I head a grunt. I turn and started glassing the tree line I had just pasted then I heard the grunt again in the direction I had been walking and turned to see this buck only 8 to 10 yards away. He was continuously grunting. Because of the wind and tall grass I think he thought I was a rival. When he snort weased(sp?) at me I became concerned that he could charge. Just then a doe at his feet busted from the grass and I about filled my pants. I was ready to dive for the fence when I realized what had happened, so I stood my ground and the buck eased out to follow her. After she got clear of cover she saw me for what I was, blew and ran off. The buck jumped the fences at the blow only to stop at about 25 yards and we just looked at each other again. Very neat encounter but it makes me think about some of the horror stories we've all heard about.

You snapped that picture as he stood there staring at you? Or did he run by a trail camera next to you?

You about got some deer sausage boy!

I have several pictures of him Muddy as he is a core buck on one of our spots. If I had been hunting and wanted him he would have met his end easily. Bucks in this size range are killing me because my sons and I don't have many nice ones like this under our belt but we want to be disciplined and let them reach their max rack. He’s a passer, this is based on my belief that he is 3 1/2. What would you say his age is? Here are a fer more angels

Good buck, probably close on the age. If you don't have any like that under your belt with the bow, then I'd say shoot away.
