Cold Again...

Believe it or not it will be cold again soon. Many of you have probably already figured this out, but the biggest asset to keeping me warm in the stand the last couple of years has been the thermacare belts you can find at a Wal-mart pharmacy section. It's simply a velcro, elastic belt with the same "stuff" inside as hothands. The "stuff" is positioned right at your lower back. It's not the cheapest, so I only use it on the coldest days and DON'T put it on 'til you get to your stand, you'll sweat like crazy. Also, obviously, don't put it right on your skin, it'll burn you pretty good when it gets going. I like to put it on top of a couple of layers. Hunters in my neck of the woods are beginning to figure this out, and the store has a hard time keeping them in stock the last of nov. A warm body = more time on the stand = big buck! Hopefully...

I had my wife sew pockets on my second layer clothes in the kidney area, and the area just below the neckline.....I also notice the need to pee has decreased. Those hot-hand packs are the shiznit.

i love hunting in cold weather. Makes me feel like the deer are moving. But i sometimes carrie some heating pads with me. All i need is 2 sweat shirts. And my coveralls and im warmed up before i even get out of the truck. Then thats were it hits. Always remember to bring heating pads with you. One time i couldnt move my hand because it was so Frigging cold out and i didnt prepair for a 6 inch snow the night before.
