confidence decoys

Sitting in a stand for hours always gives me time to think of new ideas to try. Some of them makes sense, and some are probably stupid. This one could be either.

Has anyone ever tried putting out a turkey decoy or two as a confidence type thing. I've thought about it and even entertained the idea of using a turkey call to add a little realism to it. Or even putting the decoy out with a deer decoy. Just a thought.

In my opinion i don't think I would try that on deer. Over the years while turkey hunting I've watched deer encounter turkey decoys. I understand deer and turkeys frequent the same feeding areas but they seem to respond to decoys in a differnt manner. I'm guessing from the lack of movement of the decoys. They seem to get nervous after a while and investigate the setup. In my encounters its always ended up in spooking deer. Not saying it wouldn't work but thats just what i've seen. Maybe because while turkey hunting we dont worry about scent control and handle our decoys with our bare hands.Just my opinion.

I have read some books by Gary Clancy and Judd Cooney on decoying deer. One of them wrote about using turkey decoys for that exact reason. Also, one of them liked using a fawn decoy (like they sell for predator hunters).
