Coyote Gun?

I was curious if a 9mm Carbine would be legal to take Coyotes in Iowa. I have been offered a gun like this at a great deal and would love to get into taking coyotes!

Would this be legal to use in Iowa?

So it wont be very accurate?? I just want to get a rifle for coyotes... I guess i could just go for a Single-Shot .243 or .270....
 
I have a .40 carbine. It would kill 'em but you'd have to be very very close. Mine is very very wild at 100 yards, lots of hold over, and I don't know if the 40 would pack enough punch at that distance to kill a 'yote. Mines an old police Ruger. Fun gun just to plink around with and the ammo is pretty resonable, but unfortunately it isn't much of a hunter.

i will kill one, but your range will be SHORT. take that money and put it into a NEF single shot in .223, .243, 22-250, .204, and a good scope, if nothing else
 
Is a .223 legal? In the rules and regs book it says centerfire rifles that are larger than .24 cal... So i wasnt sure if that was pertaining to coyotes in any way.. or just mainly for the Special Doe season in Jan.?
 
The .24 is the minimum caliber for deer season. Like Teeroy said you can get a good NEF and a nice scope in a .223, .243, 22-250, .204. Or a larger caliber if you want to hunt larger game some day. Like a .270 or something. I have seen yotes drop with all the calibers stated but the .243 is a pretty good round if you want to hunt yotes or deer.
 
also, with the NEF guns, if you someday get the chance to go for elk, you can send the reciever back, and they will fit another barrel to the gun.
 
When you say NEF. You are refering to New England Firearms? Everytime i look up New England Firearms on google, they bring up H&R Firearms? These the same things?
