Coyote hunting during shotgun season

Deer Nut

I haven't been able to find specifics in the regs about this. Maybe I missed it? If I do not have a deer tag and I am not with any deer hunters am I allowed to hunt coyote with my rifle Saturday? I need to move a few stands for late muzz and figured while I was at the farm I might try to call in a coyote.

Thanks for any help guys and gals

I don't see why not? If you run into a CO with an attitude problem they may give you a hard time but as long as you aren't in possession of a deer or they can't prove you shot a deer with the rifle there's nothing they can charge you with.

What about orange? I don't see anything that says all hunters have to wear orange, only while deer hunting.

I don't believe you need to were orange to coyote hunt. The conundrum is that, while it is safer to wear some orange anytime you are afield during deer season, it may be harder to convince a CO that you are not deer hunting if you do wear orange.

Good as long as you don't have a first season gun tag.
