Coyote

Well the deer hunting has been slow for me this year. Haven't seen anything over 140 yet but finally managed to shoot something. At 1pm today I was messing around with a new grunt call and I was trying out the fawn bleat. I was leaving at 1:30 so I hit it a few times trying to sound like the can but just couldn't get it to sound right. About the 5th time I hit it this yote came flying up on the ridge looking my way. I have never killed a coyote with my bow although I have shot at many. It seems they never sit still.

Anyways he looked behind him and I grabbed my bow and got ready. He started to trot my way and I drew back when he was approximately 50yds away. In the past I always got busted when drawing. He came in to 10 yards and I went Maaa really light. He turned and stood behind my tree directly downwind. I knew the jig was about up so I put it at the base of his neck and let go. The arrow flew true and there was a huge puff of hair. I thought I just grazed him but blood was spraying everywhere when he ran off. I looked at my arrow and there wasn't a drop of blood on it. I followed the trail and quickly found him. I hit right at the base of the neck and zipped him wide open with a 1 3/4 jak hammer. First kill with them and so far impressed.

Well back to deer hunting. So far I have been more excited about the coyote than any deer I have seen while actually sitting in the tree. :drink2:

Crafty Critters

I firmly believe that harvesting a coyote with a bow may well be harder than getting a shot at mature buck.

I shot a coyote last year with my bow and consider it a real trophy.

Congrats on your coyote! :way:

I agree! Nice shot!

These are not the cheapest clubs that you can buy

These are not the cheapest clubs that you can buy

First we have the option of buying new clubs from the top name brand discount golf clubs manufacturers; TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, or Nike (for example.) Of course, these are not the cheapest clubs that you can buy, but for those that really want clubs from the top brands can still save some money by buying online. ishiner

Archery yotes are indeed a tough kill. Got my first bow yote last season but missed one this year at 23 yards. Congrats Mike.

Nice job Mike, I have killed two over the years and it's one of the hardest things to shoot with a bow. I had one coming in perfect the other day but I tried to video the shot and he caught me moving the camera angle a little. I'm sure if I would have just concentrated on shooting him he would have been number 3. I think it's time we killed something big to put on here. :way:

Sweet. I didn't realize how hard it was to kill a coyote with a bow. I should of had one earlier this season in late October. He came by at 30 yards and I was at full-draw, but he just seemed to follow the correct path that never offered a shot. I had another come into about 20 yards in my ground blind right after I shot my buck but I was to concentrated the deer in the field. I heard him but just didn't look over until he had passed by.

Yep, gotta agree. A coyote with a bow is a trophy indeed. I missed one a few weeks ago and it was only about 10 yards! I am seeing a lot of them this year. I think a yote hunt with the rifle is in order after deer season is over.

Great job! :way:

Nick work, Mike! Last year a good buddy of mine and I each shot coyotes with our bows on the SAME DAY ... we couldn't believe it when we realized what we'd done. A trophy for sure! :way:
