Craziest thing

Was walking out tonight and saw a buck. He immediately put his head down and started posturing at me. Once he started circle ing me he snort wheezed. I took a shot but don't think I hit him, will check in am. Has anyone had anything similar happen?

Last year I was hunting during late October and had a hunt ruined by some dogs that were running the area. So I decided to get down and go to the field edge to glass it and see what was out there. I walked through the gate and up over a small hill to check the field edge and froze immediately because there was a deer staring at me. I knew right away it was a decent buck so I dropped to a knee hoping he would run off not knowing what I was. Well he started walking towards me all bristled up and stiff legged. Mind you in kneeling down in ankle high grass in the wide open. When he got to about 10 I drew not because I wanted to shoot him but because if he wanted to spar I didn't want any part of it. I also whistled softly and he kept coming. When he was within 5 yards I said "hey". He bounded back a few steps and stared. I stood up and he took off. That encounter had the heart pounding pretty good.

The antlers I'm holding in my avatar I shot when walking out carrying a "miss November". That buck ran maybe 500 yards on a string to me as I have her under my arm. I put her down and shot right over her back at 7 yards or so- got a little nervous that he wasn't going to stop and charge me for the doe!
