Crossbow broadheads different?

First of all- Happy Thanksgiving all.

My question- are “crossbow” broadheads different than a regular broadhead? My FIL shoots a crossbow and vertical bow (don’t get me started) but he uses the same broadheads and doesn’t want to do anything different (his crossbow shots have been a lot less than good) and it got me wondering if crossbow broadheads are at all designed slightly different to handle the speeds? Anyone have insight on that?
To further muddy the waters- he doesn’t shoot broadheads to practice (or hasn’t yet) so he has no real idea on how it actually shoots with a broadhead, and that’s a whole topic I’m gonna have to have with him.
I’ve only been looking online at them and don’t “see” much of a different but figured maybe someone could give me real world insight before I battle the FIL with knowledge he doesn’t want.
Thanks!

It should not matter. the xbow is probably shooting higher fps so any lack of tuning or non straight broadhead will exagerate the error. I've never had an Xbox so have no idea how to tune one.

When my dad passed away I got the idea to take his crossbow and try to shoot a doe in late muzzy season. After shooting a couple field tips into the target I screwed on the broadheads. 2 shots and 2 lost arrows was the result. I put the crossbow away as I wasn't interested in trying to figure out where the problem was .
All this to say, not practicing with his broadheads on is asking for trouble.

Fixed blade broadheads for crossbow are mostly the same - just dont shoot cheap as the extra speed magnifies any irregularities. I have seen really good luck with the QAD Exodus in crossbows plus they are actually made in the USA - a nice bonus.

For mechanicals, make sure to get a Crossbow specific head, They need to have stronger blade retention so they do not open on the shot. Best luck we have had there for goes who want mechanicals is Rage Hypodermic Crossbow.

OK after 2 shoulder surgeries 19 months apart form each other, I was forced to go to a cross bow.
Because they shoot faster you will need to find the broadhead that your bow likes.
Took me 3 tries.
Get the wrong broadhead and you will think that there is something wrong with your bow, the arrows will b that far off.
