Hey All,
As most of you are aware, Curt was my Bother and killed in November while hunting in the Lake Rathbun area. I cant thank you all enough for the support during the time that followed. Curt was very fond of introducing kids to the outdoors. It didn't matter if it was hunting, fishing, camping, or just educating them while on a walk. Every kid mattered to him. Bow hunting was definitely his passion though. He had worked as a guide at Illinois Monster Bucks (IMB) and at Windy Ridge Outfitters before he began trying to start a service of his own. Though that fell through, he continued to love taking anyone hunting just to show them a great experience.

That being said. As a family we have decided to start a fund specifically geared towards those things. What we have decided, is that money made through this event and others (annual Golf Tournament and possibly annual 3D Shoot) will go to an archery camp for kids. The camp is call "Raised At Full Draw". This is put on by Raised Hunting. Check them out at www.raisedhunting.com. The upcoming auction will be held February 18th from 12-3pm at Amvets 49 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Items have been donated from all across the Cedar Valley (mostly hunting, fishing, and outdoors related).

Again, Thank you all for your support. If you have any questions, you can email me at jross@ifacadets.net. I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

James Ross

Is this a live or silent auction. Any info on what will be on it? Would need a sitter for the day but seems like a worthy cause

Any chance there will be phone bids or pre bids. If so let me know, definitely interested in supporting you and your family but I am a few states away. Sounds like your brother was a great guy and shared the passions of so many on here.

May god continue to be with you all

I will definitely find out if phone/pre bids are an option.

Some of the items have been posted on Facebook. Search Curt Ross Memorial Benefit. I am working on getting the full list. I just spoke with my brother and he said that the auction will also be live on facebook and an option to bid in the comments section will be available. Because of the limited time for the venue, the bigger items will be auctioned live, with the others going to a silent auction or raffle. I will continue to update as it comes. Thanks again.

Will be looking forward to updates as a non facebook user

I know Lloyd at Scenic View Ranch. Been there. All though not hunting. Beautiful part of Iowa. He has a clear river running through his place and I think has trout. Also limestone cliffs as it is close the Mississippi. He will take very good care of you. He did have the Russian type hogs. Very cool mount. Heck let us know how to bid. I may even get in on that hunt. Poor man's griz.

Goatman,
As of right now, the only way to bid will be to be there. We are working on trying to get some sort of Facebook Live thing going so bidding on there might be possible. Otherwise live and in person may be the only thing. We entertained the phone thing, but we would not have enough people to man phones. If you know someone that will be there, having them bid for you is a possibility.

It's up to you but there seems to be enough interest that if yoy chose a few items and made a post you'd likely get high enough bids to justify it. That being said, it might be a huge PITA as well.
