CWD in iowa

If Iowa ever tests positive for CWD how do you feel that it will affect hunter numbers, land prices, and non-resident interest in our herd?

Yes,

I believe all of the above would be affected, at least until more is known about the disease. It might not be the knee jerk reaction Wisconsin has had, but it will definately affect our practices. It's going to be interesting, I feel it's only a matter of time until we see the first positive animal, whether in the wild or captive.

I doubt it will affect the hunters coming into the state. It hasn't affected Illinois which has had numerous positive tests since it was found in the state. We sold out in non res tags in about 5 days this year. Sure it is a potential problem and it is not a matter of if they find it in Iowa but a matter of when. I am sure it is already there.

Maybe it will scare off people who don't know much about it, but I don't think it will affect the die hard hunters - other than being a little more careful when we butcher and take off any headgear. Numbers will probably drop for NR applications, making it easier for the die hards to get tags (pretty sure there is a quota).
Land prices - probably continue to go up regardless.

It has already scared off some lockers from taking deer meat. Gives the others almost too much business in small communities around us.

Just my opinion which isn't worth much.
