My boy killed a deer Friday night and it was froze by the time we got it home. Will there be any ill affects on the meat when thawed to process then refrozen?

Nope should be fine. I have hung them for weeks when they are frozen. I like to think of it as natures freezer. It sure beat having to rush to process one like in early season. Youth season time is critical lots of Ice and a quick boning out job.

As said, it should be fine. The only downside is that the hands get pretty cold butchering a deer that has ice crystals in the meat.

Let the sucker age!! I know some people that prefer them to freeze for a week or so to be completely honest, not sure if that's with the hide on or off though.
