Decoy spooked shooter buck?

Had a 150-160 class spook and run off when he saw my buck decoy this morning. I've had much smaller bucks huff up and charge right in. Anyone have this happen?

Yes...thats the bad thing about deeks sometimes. They can work like magic and then ruin a great hunt. I only use them in areas I may see a buck from a long way off and without would have no chance at him (fields). If they are going to "possibly" appear within 40 yards BEFORE they see it, most often they will spook in my experience. Have shot two really nice ones over them, and a doe Sunday, but have lost a few more that may still be running to this day /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Yep..I've had the same experience. I think deer decoys are like turkey decoys...sometimes they work like magic, and other times you wish you'd left them in the truck.

Had a 120 class stand and stare at my doe decoy last year for about 10 minutes. He was about 15 yards from her, and I really think he was waiting for her to move, she never did , so he just turned and went back the way he came. The plus's far. far. out way the few negatives I've had with her!
