Wondering what decoy tactics have worked for you guys during peak rut. Use as a doe or buck? Should I wait another weak for better results? The bucks in my areas are sitting pretty tight with does and aren't moving as much as I'd like. Anyhow, how would your tactics change from now til the end of season?

BTW I have a carry-lite model.

It is hit and miss from here on out. I have had some bucks, usually smaller ones trash my buck decoy in December probably more due to sexual frustration than dominace. I use a doe decoy now to try and lure bucks out in the fields. I may try the ole' buck and doe decoy trick in late November just to see how that works. I'll keep you posted if I get a response. Let us know how and what works for you if you get a response or not

Pre rut I'll use a doe and smaller buck combination, more of a buck tending tactic to get the more dominate buck to approach. During the rut a single doe in an attempt to pick up a cruising buck in search of a doe. I've used dominate buck decoys during the rut but where I hunt in Ohio for what ever reason it seems to intimidate some bucks. I've also used a single doe with success during the second estrus/rut, typically extended archery here in Michigan. Nothing full proof here just my own experiences, good luck.

I'm gonna bring out the decoy this afternoon to try to lure in 2 different bucks I've seen the last 3 nights while leaving the woods. One is a great looking 10 in the 160" range and the other is the 14 i've been trying for all season. They have been in the same little corner of the field since last friday every night either keeping themselves close with does or like last night the 10 was with a doe and the 14 was with a small buck. I'm not sure what would work the best either, buck or doe.
