decoys

For those of you still hunting, what kind of decoy spread are you putting out. I had a nice tom coming in this weekend but when he saw my jake decoy he took off. Am I better going with a single hen this late in the season?

It depends. If I have a jake decoy out the Toms usually make me wish I didn't. Then if I don't I always think that if I would have had one he would have committed. When I shot my bird on Saturday I had a homemade breeding set, hen against the ground, jake on top, no others. It worked that day!

I second that Bowman. You play the guessing game and sometimes you win and sometimes you loose. Toms this weekend loved the Jake decoy when the hens finally seperated.
