Put up a ground blind yesterday. Getting ready for youth season with my 13 year old daughter. Field behind the blind is a new alphalpha field. Trail from the bedding area runs aobut 50 yards down the hill.

Good luck to you and your daughter!

I set up my Double Bull and brushed it all in last weekend for my 12 year old daughter over a bean field. My plan includes a decoy. I've been glassing the field for most of the Summer and I can only hope it is still getting hit as hard come September 17th!

Be sure that your daughter accessories with orange fingernail polish like mine does. It would be too bad if everything didn't match in the woods.

In that case, I hope she uses black fingernail polish for inside the Double Bull. That's funny!

What gun are you having her shoot?

Last year she used my .50 cal muzzle loader. She loved it but it only had one bullet. This year, she will use a 20 ga. youth shot gun.

The first morning we went out last year, 15 minutes into the hunt I used a fawn bleat and we had 2 does inside of 25 yards. She passed them both wanting a big buck. We went to another farm and had two more does inside of 50 yds., she passed on those as well. After that, she decided that if it's brown, it's down. We didn't get close to one the rest of the season. She shot a couple of times during shotgun seson and missed.

Yes, I'm going to encourage a trigger pull on the first real good shot.

My daughter will be shooting a 20 ga. Remington 870 youth model with a rifled slug barrel and a Nikon 2 x 7 shotgun scope. I plan to put it on paper this weekend.

i think if it was me, i'd try to get them to take whatever first gave a good, "slamdunk" shot. let them get it all figured out, before REALLY getting the nerves going on a buck. they have their whole lives to learn how to fall apart. make that first one as easy as possible.

sounds like you guys have them set up pretty well.....right down to the accessories. can't wait to see some smiling kid pics
