Deer tag advice please

Well, seems I have overlooked something. I used to bowhunt & shotgun hunt. I used to get any-sex tags for both seasons, had twice the chance of getting a buck. (not that I won't take a doe, I just like the option) I sold my bow a few years ago & have only shotgunned since. I bought a muzzleloader, I plan to hunt ML & shotgun this year.
I see that lastyear you could only have one any-sex tag.
If the regs are like lastyear - what season would you pick for an any-sex tag?
Early ML or shotgun?
When do the new regs come out?
Thanks

Depends on a lot of different things....

I have shot my biggest bucks to date during early muzzleloader.....but in my area the deer get stirred up so much that your chances of shooting a booner are greater during the slug season. There is nothing like climbing the stand in the morning, watching the sun rise and hearing the first shots of slug season.....knowing that the neighbors are moving the deer around.

Now.....if you have a big buck scouted out and know his kitchen and bedroom like the back of your hand...early muzzy is killer on big bucks.

Early muzzleloader would be my last pick out of any season, I think I would rather go late doe season than early muzzleloader.

I killed a nice buck during early muzzy last year, my first muzzy season ever. However, I had been wathcing him for almost 6 weeks make the same routine across a field into the timber so I set up where I had been seeing him walk during my scouting and it paid off. However, before that I hunted another area because the wind was not right and I must say it wasn't the best hunt, saw alot of does and small bucks, but the big boys were elusive.

Now if you really want to see some hogs I would recommend late muzzy, when the big boys have to move because of the cold weather and snow.
