I have an opportunity to hunt in Delaware County, IA this upcoming season. Just curious to know if anybody hunts around there and I would like to know if it is an area for bigger than average bucks.

That comment made me laugh, I hope it was meant to be funny. I am not trying rub anybody the wrong way & make them mad.
A good friend of mine moved over there, has plenty of farm land and said that I could deer & turkey hunt on his land. I was just trying to get some information about the area.
I can assure you that it is better than Emmet county as far as numbers of deer and the size of the bucks. Finding and shooting a deer is another matter.
The genetics are there for really big bucks. That being said, the shotgunners take out alot of small bucks, at least around our farm they do. Quality deer managers most farmers are not. Good luck! By the way, we have great turkey hunting in the spring also.
Alot depends on exactly where in Delaware you will be located. The county as a whole has lots of isolated areas that can be real good.Other areas are 'shotgunned' too hard for the available habitat. What town are you going to be closest to? That will help giving you an educated answer.
