Des Moines river walleyes?

Has anyone ever heard of the Des Moines river holding some very large walleyes? I have never fished it much, and only for catfish when I have.

I know they get some big ones at Red Rock in the spring below the dam. I also know they get some big fish below the spillway at Saylorville. I haven't caught any but have a couple friends who fish it quite a bit! Good Luck!

I have had very good luck in Fort Dodge just below the little dam in years past. Never got a chance to go this year as of yet.

But yes, I have seen some nice walleyes come out of the Des Moines River.

I caught 2 on a trot line a couple years ago. One went 5 pounds and the other just over 3. Those are the only two I've ever seen come out of the stretch of river I was fishing.
