This may be a question for Doug, but this is something everyone on the west side of the state should know... I called and talked to the Federal Game Warden at Desoto and she told me that starting this year, both Iowa and Nebraska resident hunters will be able to hunt Desoto at the same time on both sides of the river. I wasn't sure how legel that was, so I called and talked to both the Iowa DNR, and Nebraska Game & Parks, they both concurred the story was true. Does this seem strange to anyone else besides me? Also, are these safe measures? Being a long time hunter there, I feel this is a huge mistake on Desoto's part, and they are running a risk of having someone seriously hurt there in an accident, due to over crowding. I could see if there was a point to this, (too many deer) whatever. But to just aimlessly throw us all together makes no sense at all. The only people that are benefiting are the Nebraska hunters, and Iowa is getting the shaft! Fist fights, stands missing, are already a problem there, this decision on the Refuge will in the end compound these problems. The question I have is WHY? If anyone has some insight please feel free to share......
