Digital Camera Suggestion

DOR

I'm in the market for a compact digital camera that I can carry in my pack. Something that takes great photos but doesn't blow your wallet up trying to pay for it. Something under 250-300$ or even cheaper if the quality is there. I have heard good things about the Olympus C770.

What is everyone else using these days?

Iv'e already got a high end film camera(becoming obsolete), but I would like something a little more portable and digital. Well....

Sony Cyber-shot® DSC-P200

Easy to point and shoot. Love it. Very compact and durable. So far.

The biggest deal with these is the optical zoom. I have 5x optical zoom and my dad has 10x zoom. He can yeally get a good picture a long way out. I have a 5mp camera which is more resolution than you really need. I usually take pictures at about half that resolution.

Limb found it 317$ ...seems like a pretty good deal! What do ya think? 7.2MP is pretty impressive.

Anybody else ?

Fuji Z1

DOR- I have been really happy with this Fuji- I can be a little rough on things so I wanted one that the cover slides over the lens. About the size of a deck of cards.

I just bought a Sony CiberShot DSC-H1 with 12X opical zoom. It is a 5.1 MP camera and it function just like all of my trail cameras. I needed the short learning curve. Sony makes great cameras. I think I paid just under $400 for it.

If you can get a C770 for $300 you'll be getting a bargain.

I have a slightly older model of basically the same camera (C750) and if you go this route, you'll love the 10X zoom! I'm no photography master, but beware of fuzzy pictures when zooming in and in less than optimal light. Other than that, it's great.

If you want compact, I got my wife a Canon Powershot SD200 for her purse for right @ $300. They have one that's a bit smaller now, but at Christmas last year, there was no smaller canon. Same size as a deck of cards and takes EXCELLENT pictures. But, it only has 3X zoom. :-/

I would also say that the software that comes w/ the canon is more full-featured and easier to use than the Olympus software. This is something that most people don't consider when looking at the entire camera package.

Pulled the trigger on the Sony DSC-P200 7.2 megapixel camera yesterday....the price was finally right enough for me to buy. Got it for 246$(including shipping). www.pricegrabber.com came through again!

Are you still having good luck with yours Limb?
