Dissappointed

Well I am about thoroughly bugged by an occurance that happened yesterday afternoon. I stopped buy Double A archery just to check things out, and before I knew what happened I was in the Technohunt shooting a demo X-force.

Heres what has me bugged. I was extremely impressed by the X-force. I was shooting sixty pounds through a bisquit with full length arrows and they were Quick.

Virtually no hand shock without a stabilizer. The bow also felt good in my hand and also light.

Draw cycle was extremely smooth even though the draw length did not fit me.

All I will say is that I was impressed and i think that this bow definetely put PSE back up there with the big dogs.
I dont think my Switchback XT had anything on this bow accept for its death tally.

BUT YOU DIDN'T HEAR ME ADMIT THIS...

I tell ya what. Alot of magazine articals and trade show people that I have talked or read about have said good things about the X-Force. You kinda gotta take things with a grain of salt when it comes to comsumer products {especially hunting equipement} but even the charts are saying its near the top.

This month's issue of Field & Stream has a bow review where a panel of three judges picked the X Force as bow of the year. Two of the three judges were from Iowa. Maybe PSE has something here.....

I havent shot it yet, but I will see it soon, as soon as Jeremy gets his anyway. As far as magazine articles, have you ever seen one that said the bow they were talking about wasnt good? I could see shooting the x force at about 55 pounds and have the same speed I get with my switchback.I just need to see how harsh the draw is, thats all that really matters to me.

well just some more info... My switchback is at 70 lbs. and I shot 248-251 fps with my arrows. the same arrows out of a 60 lb xforce was 283. Not extremely light arrows.

Even if you are shotting 70lbs i think with the same arrow an x-force at 55lbs would shoot a little faster then your xt. (I am not dogging the XT it is a great bow, just talking speed.) If you are currently shooting at 60lbs it will be way faster then you current setup.

what were the down falls you experienced? the only thing i didnt like was overall feel in my hand. compared to my XT

I didn't care for the grip or balance of the bow.

I didn't care for the harsh draw cycle or the vibration after the shot.

The bow was quiet for the speed, but no were near as quiet as my XT.

I shot a set-up bow with stabilizer, quiver, rest and sight installed, so it wasn't even bare and it had loads of vibration in it compared to my XT.

I guess I prefer my bows to have smooth draws, low noise and little to no vibration.

The Xforce is just not worth it in my eyes. I would choose the Drenalin, Guardian, XT, or the Vectrix over it any day. I have shot all of them and they all feel better to me as a bow hunter.

Just my opinion though, some like to have their fillings rattled loose so they can say they shoot 345fps??????

Ironic isnt it??
in Truth, i dont even read that part of mags, 90% of what you read, unless it is editorial, is all advertising based. in other words, the archery company pays the magazine to have a "Product Review" on their bow and 9 times out of 10 the "Product Review" is actually written and supplied by the manufactuer themself.

so it is really hard to get an accurate opinion on how the bow really shoots, especially if one person is giving the "Review". some people are more sensitive about hand shock, or noise, etc, so each different individual may have a different view on a certian bow.

today's bows seem to be all about speed, but i know one thing, the faster the bow the harder it is to keep it quiet. i shoot in the high 280's fps, and i have seen deer duck arrows at that speed, by a mile....add another 15, 20 or even 30 fps to that bow, make it a tish louder and the deer is gonna duck it any way.....imo

target bows need the speed, and a target is not going to "jump the string" so noise is worth the sacrifice to get a flatter shooting bow.
however, with my hunting rig, i will not ever sacrifice how quiet my bow is for a few more fps. what i have is plenty fast and i have no need for more speed.

one last point. dont take what a magazine says about how a bow shoots as 100% fact. get out there and shoot it yourself. take that a step further, dont shoot just one bow and head to the next shop, shoot as many differnt bows as possible so you can compare on the spot....
yes we may remember a certian bow and the positives and negatives to it, but 20 minutes later at a differet shop our memory may exagerate what actually happened.
I like what i shoot and have no reason to change....... but the more i am involved in the industry, the more i learn how important it is to have an open mind.

I think in two of the magazines where the X-force was named bow of the year the next page was a full page mathews ad! They are all paying for advertising to get the name out! Some spend more, some spend less. PSE released a bow that a ton of people love, and they are advertising it! For me, if you like it shoot it, if you don't, don't! Whether it is a post on IW, a commercial on T.V., or a magazine article, it is all a matter of opinion! Granted those opinions may be swayed by Money, but they are still only an opinion!

My opinion, Mathews has done one of thee best advertising jobs over the last 5 years of any company in existence(except Anheuser busch, who has the best commercials ever) You have to remember these companies are in this for profit! they don't care if you shoot a deer with it or run it over with a truck! They are trying to sell as many of their bows as possible and to as many people as possible!

I love the X-force, I have shot it a lot, but do not shoot it as my full time bow. I like short axel to axel! But many people dislike the grip(my bow has the same grip) and I love it. I pick up a mathews, bowtech or many other bows and I feel like I have NO hand control! Again all preference!

And, Sorry Thomas, couldn't leave this curve floating, [ QUOTE ]

I got a feeling I am gonna pay for that, but it was worth it!

You know Andy,
I didnt have any targets "duck" my arrow this weekend.....
but the James Jordan Buck jumped over one of mine....
how that happened i have no idea...
all i know is standing in front of a 210" Ten pointer really made me loose control.....
not to mention, he jumped over my arrow....
did i mention he jumped over it??

here is me looking for my arrow, which was stuck in a tree.....
i then threw a tantrum and broke it....
