it up on there page. Looks much the same for residents. FOr NR's there is a new holiday muzzleloader antlerless season from dec24to jan 2. Cant go if you drew any other tag.

by looking at some of the draw rates form last year it is looking like i will be waiting 2 years at least to hunt zone 9 again

. But thats OK. At least i can come down and slam a Doe late season a little cheaper than before. Still 130$, which is still to high to shoot a doe, but i think i may pay it.
check it out! Later

I don't know if ready is the right word. Willing maybe but I'm never ready to part with $320. It breaks down like this for NR:

DEER AND TURKEY HUNTING LICENSE FEES
Nonresident
Deer License(bow or gun) $220.50
First Antlerless License
(regardless of season) $150.50
Second and Subsequent
Antlerless Licenses N.A.
Holiday Deer License $50.50
Turkey License N.A.
Small Game Hunting License
18 and over $80.50
Under 18 $30.50
Habitat Fee $8.50
Free Landowner/Tenant
(deer or turkey) N.A.
Farm Unit Antlerless N.A.
(For hunters with free license)

I wouldn't call them cheap but at least they are reasonable. For someone like myself who grew up and spent 10+ years as a resident hunter to have to pay $230+ for a tag that used to cost $25 seems somewhat riduculous. But it's time I get to spend with my dad and the rest of our hunting party and you can't put a price on that!

I must be stupid today, I couldn't find the resident info. Did anything change for us locals? Anybody got the link?

pharmer,

That what I said about our duck and pheasant tags. I say take it to $200...what do you think?

that will never happen, paying big money for big game is one thing. but birds arent worth 200 for a season. will continue my south dakota trips, wouldnt mind hunting iowa birds but seems that all you residents want to pay less, drive us non residents up in price and out of state. the money has to come from some where lets not get greedy. also your state should offer sportsmans packages which gives a hunter of multiple games discounts. just my 2 cents

If I could guarantee the DNR would not increase the number of nonresident tags I’d charge nonresidents all the same prices as a resident. That would prevent the DNR from depending on nonresident fees for their budget. Of course, nonresident would probably only be able to draw once in every ten years or so which might cut down on the leasing?

Along the same lines if I want to go hunt Wyoming for elk I now have to pay $500 or $900 for better odds of drawing. Use to cost me about $25 to $30 as a resident. This will be the first time in the 15 years since I left Wyoming that I won’t be applying, it’s now cheaper to go to Alaska. Btw, only drew my first choice once in all those years of applying.

Tomo,
I think that we all have to decide what our recreation is worth to us. If people don't like it they will vote with their feet & stay home or hunt elsewhere. I quit going to pro football games when I decided the tickets were too high for me, yet they are still selling them & I'm not mad at the NFL, sure I wish I could still do it all the time but it is a decision I make. My thoughts on the NR tags isn't personal, it really is business. I think that the residents get a bargain too but they harvest the majority of the deer & keep the auto insurance industry happy.

pharmer I agree...Sioux City just finished building a new stadium and their first concert was last night. Allan Jackson and Martina McBride tickets were $75 each!!

Needless to say I stayed home and probably won't go to one.

Tomo,

You're probably right...SD could get more for its' NR small game licenses, but only if they let us hunt the whole season rather than that stupid "2 consecutive 5 day period" rule. Sort of like the fishing license...$70 (probably more this year) and they're taking the limit back to 3 on Francis Case. Those are gettin' to be some pretty expenisve 'eyes

Nontheless, some of us won't think twice about paying it I suppose.

DOR,

The NR holiday tag is not a new thing for next year. It was available this year for $50.
