DNR town hall meetings

Yes, local DNR officers are involved. Occasionally you get some people who have a special interest (personal axe to grind) so you can provide an opposing view if you care to.

Not sure it has much impact, but the summary does make it back to DSM.

Unfortunately the data does not make it back to the legislatures - unless they ask the DNR. The DNR can't just present it to legislatures - which makes it much less effective.
Does it need to get to legislators? Comments on herd numbers, EHD and antlerless tags are under DNR control.

I have attended 8-10 of them through the years, I think they are worthwhile. There are normally 4-6 DNR personnel at the ones I have been to. Iowa and Solon.

If you haven't gone to one in the past I'd recommend going. You get the chance to voice your opinion on things directly to the DNR. However, just because the DNR hears the opinions, like Rjack said, they don't get to pass on that information unless they are asked. It makes you understand how important it is to contact legislators directly because they are the ones actually making decisions.

That’s not necessarily true. There is new legislation passed by the state legislature through bills and there can be rule changes implemented by the DNR in relation to law in existence. It’s worth speaking up. Never know.
