when you check your trail cams during hunting season?

I would have had some easy chip shots at turkeys last year on days when I was simply checking cams and not intending to hunt. There have also been occasions where I have had pics of deer passing through right before I changed out SD cards.

I know Sureshot harvested his buck from the ground when in transition to another stand last season and this, plus some close encounters in the past got me in the practice of carrying mine whenever I'm in the woods. Even though this was during the rut I think there is always a chance you might sneak up on a shooter.

I always carry my bow. Last year I was walking the edge of a chopped corn field to check a cam when a doe busted out 10 yards ahead of me in the field. A nice 10 pointer was right behind her and I was able to stop him and get a shot. It was a cool way to harvest a great animal, and ever since that day I always have my bow in hand

I never enter properties during season if I don't intend to hunt. I check my cameras after I'm done with a morning sit, or just before an evening sit. So yes, my bow is always with me(semi ready jic)
