Doe Decoy

Hey guys I was wondering your experiences using a doe decoy?

Last year I sat over a decoy 2-3 hunts in a cut bean field and it seemed like 75% of the does would turn the other way and run the moment they saw it. Most of them would do this when they were 200+ yards away still. After last year I doubt I'll take it out unless I drill holes in it and attach some antlers. Advice? Experience?

I get similar results as long as it is in heavy doe areas. They come out to within 30 yards and start the foot stomping and eventually leave. I have used one with success where the buck: doe is a little more even.
What I do now is use it as a buck and I got another as a doe without legs so it is bedding down with the buck standing close by. Much better results, although I am yet to kill mature buck over this setup.
I do like the lafawnda idea that was posted recently.

Does can be buttheads when you use a doe decoy. I will let you all know if Lafawnduh spooks does even though she is a full body mount. If the does do not like her I will put one small antler on her and call him Smelliot. All you can do is trial and error.

If you can.. Use a buck decoy with a doe decoy. They don't seem to spook as easily with the combination. They usually leave because there is no movement to the decoy, as well as may be picking up the scent off the decoy.

My experience is only in early to mid-October, once last year and once this year. Last year I had it set up and was on the ground about 30 yards away, between the decoy and where the deer would likely come thru (wind wasn't really the best for this as I was upwind of the decoy, but downwind of the trail), so they would have to walk by me to get to the decoy. I had a young doe come flying in, saw the decoy and hit the brakes. She stared at it for about 30 seconds, then took off the way she was going. I'm guessing something bumped her in to me.

This year I took it out, made a lot of noice walking thru CRP with my little pull cart, and then got it set up about 25-30 yards away upwind of me. Saw one small buck as I was setting it up. About an hour into the hunt, I was looking around for deer and turned my head back to the decoy...but there was no decoy. Up and walked away I guess! Upon closer inspection, I decided it got tired and laid down. Apparently I did not put the stakes in the ground far enough! I determined it was too late in the hunt to try to set it back up, so I just left it laying down. Didn't bring anything...dang it.:)

my miss November was mounted a couple times 2 years ago and last year I shot the buck (we found dead weeks later) right over her back at dusk to a buck coming into her. Also have had it spook does- I really don't mess too much with miss November anymore- but starting this week the buck decoy will be out in full - if I had him out last night im confident I would have a giant down-

What scents do you guys use on your decoy? I have only ever had luck with refrigerated buck urin. But I read a couple weeks ago on here about evercalm and having some good results. Anyone else Care to chime?
