doe in estrous scent question

While driving home the other day I caught a noseful of a feedlot just off the highway. Man it was bad.

At first I thought I had spilled the bottle of doe in estrous scent that I had in the truck but as soon as the feedlot smell left the truck I opened the bottle of scent and whammo!! There was the same smell!

I read a post on another site that mentioned something about how could all the scent companies make all this "doe in heat" scent and keep the shelves stocked in thousands of Walmart and other stores. Are there literally hundreds of thousands of does in captivity whose pee is harvested during their short estrous cycle?

Doesn't this stuff on the store shelves go bad if it is not refrigerated? Does anyone know what they are actually bottling up?

i've often wondered the same thing and the validity of the whole scent market. if i use scent it's usually cover scent such as raccoon urine. i think that most scents are synthetics and not the real deal.

If the doe pee is in a dark glass bottle and it's not opened it will last for years. once the seal is broken you have about a week and then it goes bad. As far as it being pee with estrous scent, well that is a truth in advertising question? It's doe pee alright, taken at the right time of year but I don't think estrous scent has been identified. I could be wrong!
