Doe tag question

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday to buy late season muzzleloader tags for myself and CamoKid. I got those, and then asked for two additional antlerless tags. I told them what county they were for, and when the guy entered the data, he told me they were sold out. Maybe I misunderstood how the antlerless tags work. I thought the quotas were just for the special late season that starts January 11th. Will someone clarify this for me? Thanks

YOUR RIGHT, AT LEAST THE WAY I READ IT. MAYBE THE WALMART KID MISUNDERSTOOD YOU.....

All antlerless tags are sold first come first serve. The quota is for the county and for all seasons combined, including the special late bonus season. You could have bought your special late season bonus tags when they first came out and when the county quota is sold out, that's it, no more.

There are limited number's of all antlerless tag's for all the special doe hunt's,I think there are still some left but only in certain counties.I think you can check the dnr website and find out if there are any left where you want to hunt.

Thanks guys. I usually hunt Dallas and Cedar counties, and they are both sold out. My neighbor has lots of places we can hunt in Ringgold county, and they have several tags left, so we might hunt the doe season down there. I'm looking forward to some more meat now, because my neighbor just finished up the first batch of ring bologna. We did it the 'official' way this year, and I gotta tell you, this bologna is the best I have ever tasted. Next, we'll be making some summer sausage, sticks, and salami. It's amazing how much cheaper (and better) it is when you do it yourself.
