I was wondering if anybody belonging to this site worked for state farm and could step up to the plate and tell us what is up their sleve?? We all would appreciate it.

Maybe I'm in the dark, but I don't know what you mean? My father-in-law is a State Farm agent, if I knew what to ask him, I would. Let me know what you are questioning and I will ask him. He's the most honest person I know and he'll give me the straight skinny and I can get back to you.

Thanks for the reply. What I am looking for is a certified report or a spread sheet from the DNR to State Farm where they would have recorded the car/deer collisions. Perhaps it is some web address. This may be something he is unable to provide, I understand. Thanks!

Tracker,
I emailed my father-in-law (I'd call but I know he's hunting the late antlerless season today). If he has that info, I'll get it and I'll post it or PM you.
What's the slant? Is the number in the media inflated? DNR looking for other measures of population control? Your original post had a hint of conspiracy and I'm always interested in that kind of thing!

No conspiracy. It's the way numbers get turned around when they get into political hands. I had posted in the QDM a few weeks ago mentioning when I removed road kill animals from a local counties secondary roads and was keeping a log for my own use, no type of record keeping was performed before my time, just estimations. I was hoping to find solid numbers through various insurance co's( state farm, allied, farm bureau, progressive, etc.) and see where the localities of hits and dates compared to increase/decrease in the areas over the years.

Tracker: I know that the Iowa Dept. of Transportation has a log of road kill deer that are not salvaged. When I worked in a maintenance garage I logged them in and they are to the 1/10 of a mile on a primary route. So there is numbers out there wheter they are accurate who knows. Those #'s are provided to the DNR yearly.
