this morn I watched two airs of doe with fawns leading them around. No bucks following. Can they be bred and back with fawns alredy?
 
Just read in Field and Stream that the next couple days should be some of the best. They're saying that more deer are bred on Nov 15 than any other day. Bucks should be up moving before they go on lockdown.
 
+1 hoosier - Great thing is the Mature bucks should be moving greatly with this weather. The younger bucks may be starting to get worn from the immediation factor from the older, more physically gifted deer and lack of reserves caused from the earlier stages. Try rattling and Using your 'Can' calls during the period. You never know when that buck we'll be in between does and come into your area. I'd be on stand if it wasn't for these stupid NW, WNW winds! It's great that you do have twin fawns in your area, loneranger. They will come handy in the later :)

Yea great time except for these temps. Be darned if I will sit all day. Next polar airmass to plunge sunday weather service says even colder. Says if this were jan it would be BRUTAL! Well Jan is coming!! Not a pleasant thot Ill sit as much as I can.
 
Loneranger, that's understandable. It helps if you eat a big meal before you get into the stand. Then eat little by little as it gets later on stand. It gives your body fuel to warm itself. If you have to go back to the truck and eat and warm up - Great. Any time on stand is better than most on the couch or at work :)
 
I had 18 deer come through last night...not a single buck. Couldn't believe it

I know bucks travel all day but my neighborhood is quite noisy. My best deer travel is to and from me and my neighbor across a road so there I have found morns and eves the best activity.
 
^^ Same for me - It's been like that for me this 2014 season. I saw a maybe a button buck out in the field and when the full moon was out right before the cold front came through.. I saw a great buck going across the road, in front of me, while driving to my hunting spot. I couldn't believe it. I thought it would pose a great sign for me, for that hunt, but that wasn't the case.
