Doing it all wrong

Maybe 10 years ago I bought some switch seed from Welter’s and frosted seeded it into established brome, no spray or burn that year. Burned in maybe year three, not since. Coming in fairly nice for the minimal effort. Working on clearing olive that had gotten out of hand. Burning would help with that.

How long did it take for the switch to get established?
I ask because I just did about 15 acres pretty much the same way. I have scattered natives already trying to fight the brome so just killing the brome should have helped a lot.

It was getting a good start in year three when it was burned. IF it got burned every other year since then, I think it would be really thick.

So one thing I did do differently was I sprayed roundup on the brome last fall and then seeded the switch around Christmas, then came back a couple weeks ago with big bluestem and Indian grass. And just for good measure hit the brome again with roundup( pretty early but I’m going to get busy at work and didn’t want to not get it sprayed at all this spring )
