Sorry no pics in this one, but I finally got to use my new (to me
) .44 mag on a deer. Went out with some friends yesterday, saw a bunch of deer the first push, had a really nice buck in the bunch that only one person had a decent shot at, but he forgot to put in his primer :thrwrck: Went to do another push and at this point I decided I needed to at least get a doe or I'd never hear the end of it from my wife if I put bunches of hours in and don't fill any tags. I knew if possible, I wanted to take a doe with my handgun. So a first group of about 6 does comes by a little too far away and after they pass and run out across a field, I look back and here comes another group of 7 or 8. This group came to about 50 yards or so and stopped and started looking around. Then they moved a little closer and I got a nice doe at about 40 yards and took the shot. I couldn't see that I hit her and lost her right away with the other deer running around as well. About 3 seconds after I shot at her, another one came to about 30 yards and stopped. So I took that shot and knew I hit it. It limped a little ways and went down. After we got done, I walked up to the one I watched go down and he (dang button bucks) jumped up and ran a little ways and went back down. I tried to get to a position I could finish him and he got up again, went a little further and fell down a steep river bank. I started walking over there to put him out of his misery and there was a dead doe laying off to the side. So I guess I'm a better shot than a I thought! No worries, I had two tags, so needless to say, I'm all done for the season. No big bucks, but it's still been a great season all in all.
