Doube Trouble...

OK...am I the only one who has had the problem? I have a double bull T5 and have a terrible time getting it set up. Now, one of the rods pushed a hole in the end of the pouch it sets in. It seems like when I get that first hub popped out, that all the others are nearly impossible to get turned the right way.

For background, this is not the first DB I've owned, and I never had any problems with the previous one...right up until some jerk stole it. Any suggestions, 'cause right now this thing is basically worthless in my opinion.

Can you take the hubs and rotate them clockwise or counter clockwise? I've done this to tighten the blind up in high winds and might help make things easier for you by loosening them. Other than that I'd contact DB immediately and see about a replacement blind.

Double Bull is a great company to work with, they will fix what is wrong and will do it for either very cheap or free, (depending on the nature of damage)
send it up to them and they will have it back asap.......

Yeah...I worked on it again this weekend and now think I have the problem narrowed down to the ceiling hub. It just doesn't want to pop out, and has popped the caps off of several rods trying to do so. Problem is...I need it soon. The gang is planning to set all of our blinds out this coming weekend. I think I can arm wrestle with it just enough to get it set up to leave in one place, but when season's over, it's got to go back. Thanks guys.

I left my BS5 out in what is basically a flood plane and pretty much destroyed everyone of my light weight rods. I called them up today and told them what I had done. I explaned that I wanted to buy a new set of light weight rods and that I did not expect them to cover this mishap, seeing as it was 100% due to my stupidity. They said, don't worry about it, it is covered under the warranty!!! He also said that I should ship it to them so they could fix it. He said that with one rod it is pretty easy to fix yourself, but with multiple rods it is best if you send it in. All I have to pay for is the shipping. Talk about customer service!!

They also said that they are starting to get backed up with repairs and not to expect any miracles on turn around. No problem, my season isn't until May 17th.

I had the same problem setting up my hub style blind, then I watched the instructional DVD that came with my dads DB T5 just to see how they set their blinds up! I did what they said they setup easy! Just fold out the first side all the way, pop the hub out(the first wall can be any except the ceiling). Then grab all other hubs and push up/out.....it is kind of hard to explain on here but they really explain it well in the instructional DVD.

This raises a red flag for me. What good is great customer service if thier blinds are always breaking, your fault or not? Is the company selling an inferior product and hoping their great customer service makes up for it? I suppose I have a tilted view because I only know what I read here about blinds and it sure seems like there are alot of folks with rod problems, self induced or not.

Any company needs great customer service, but they should produce a product so their customers never have to find out how good their customer service is. Maybe I'm way off here but it just makes me wonder.

Bonk,
You have to remember that Double Bull is in the business of selling "portable" ground blinds. They do not sell tanks. Any problems that I have had, have been a direct result of me abusing my blind beyond what is reasonable. My most recent "problem" resulted from leaving the blind out pretty much the whole winter. Pure stupidity!! I tried to get it a couple of times, but it was frozen to the ground. 30 inches of snow on top of a set up blind will cause you some problems. The light weight rods are not indestructable, but will hold up to reasonable abuse. I cant speak to the regular rods as I have never owned them.

Pretty hard to bash DB if you ask me. They other problems I have had were very minor and double bull had replacement rods shipped to me within a few days. Other than this most recent problem, my other rods did not break in half, but the little plastic part that holds them into the hub broke. This part is somewhat delicate if you torque it the wrong way. I think it would be hard to design it better and maintain the lightness of the rods.

I am typically very critical on on performance and on companies that do not stand behind their products. Double Bull is head and shoulders above any company I have dealt with before.

All that said, I am interested in seeing the new eastman blinds in person jsut to compare quality. I don't really care for the ASAT camo, but I think it probably would not matter for turkeys. I would like to see a DB or Eastman make a blind that looks just like a big roundbale. I bet it would be a pretty good seller.

Not to be a complete DB homer, but most guys tend to procrastinate on repairs and it tis the season!!

Yeah...have watched that damn thing a dozen times. Trouble is, there's no "throwing the rest of the blind open" after that first hub is out. I have no trouble getting the first hub popped out, but the ceiling just doesn't want to go.

sounds like these problems aren't spcific to DB blinds, but DB is the only ones that stand behind their product. that is good enough for me.

as for ASAT being good enough for turks...i'm not so sure. turks aren't colorblind, like deer.

I hope the Eastman ASAT has good quality. Because a buddy of mine called them and they told him they only have a 90 day warranty. As fare as i'm concerned DB is still the best blind on the market and worth the extra $120.
