I have been hunted hard since the season opened and have seen very little turkey. I found out not to long ago, from this site, you can get two archery tags and shoot two in one day! Not that i have been having much luck but I thought I better get the second one, because more then once I have been hunting alone and had two toms come in and I had to watch the other one walk.
Anyways. First morning on this new piece I worked a tom for what seamed like and hour, roughly 300 yards. Finally he comes into 11 yards at starts kicking Bob's (my strutter) butt. I stuck him right next to his beard and out the other side! PERFECT. So i thought. He hobbles away about 15 yards and lays down. Then I saw the other tom about 100 yards away. Just as I see him the first bird flew off.
So I worked the other bird for a few minutes. He made it to 40 yards and decided that he wasn't coming in and started working away. He stops again to strut a little at 47 yards and I let him have it. Once that arrow hit its mark that tom never moved an inch.
It took a few minuted but i found the first on laying dead in the brush where I saw him land!!!
