That is a cool picture. And by the markings in the pictures, those appear to be ringed turtle doves, which are nonnative and not protected by any Federal laws (Migratory Bird Treaty Act). In most places, you can legally remove them because they are not native. Most people can't tell the difference in flight, so they sometimes get lumped, but not many nonnative species are protected by state laws. I'd check with your local CO and verify Iowa's laws on them, but if they are not protected because they are nonnative, eat away!!
