Down to the wire Don Wan.

My buddy Don and I decided to give it one more try Sunday afternoon. We set up at my place around 3:30 and by 6:00 I had called in a bird that has hung up all season. When the bird started responding to the call I told Don not to get his hopes up. This bird would gobble his head off and stay hung up out of gun or bow range all season. Well in the end, after an hour of calling soft, I coaxed him in close enough to dye from lead poisoning. Even though I managed not to kill a bird for myself it is nice to finish on a high note and every bit as much fun having family or friends doing the shooting. Here is a picture of Don Wan turkey and hunter.

Congrats on the kill, and sometimes just calling them in for others is better than taking one yourself.

OK there you go. I am at work and people keep expecting me to do something. Work slows me down once in a while.

Way to go Mr. Wood!

Had a bird like that at 45 yards for my daughter again yesterday morning.....rattled the blind with every gobble but just wouldn't close the distance for her 20 gauge and her skill level.

A good season all the same!

Don called me this afternoon and told me this bird was carring some copper covered shot from someone else as well as his lead shot. That may explain why he was so reluctant to come in. We were lucky with that one.
