Scrpaes that is. I've been hunting what is now next yr's deer with cams on scrapes. All the chasing and breeding has them moved away from the gathering branches. Will they return to them when the bulk of the breeding is done. Best buck in a 10 day stretch on a major field edge scrape line.

That is awesome, I would love to have a moose show up on one of my cams. A moose hunt is on my to due list. Karre do have that many moose in your area, and can you hunt them every year as a resident or is it a draw. Wow to have those opurtunities would be awesome. That buck will be a stud in another year.

On Wed. the first 2 animals I saw were small bull moose crossing a cutline. I spent all day on Thursday hunting a big timber logging block, saw 5, 1 bull, 2 cows, 2 calves. On Friday I saw 2 cows and a calf hunting a different big block of timber. We can hunt moose every yr as a resident.

Over the counter tags are bull only but you can apply for any moose tags in a draw. I never bother simply b/c I hate the thought of being all alone and dealing with one back in the woods after dark...deer can be work, they're a whole diff't ball game. Father in law got one this yr, I will confess, am sure enjoying the moose meat. I won't be a stubborn fellow without a moose tag when the boysare old enough to help get one out.

man you gotta get in there and kill one of them things!!!!! i hear ya tho!
Good stuff Kaare!!!

Dude, I'd make trips to and from a kill sight all night long if given the chance to whack a giant bull!

I brought a moose out in 2001 and I was alone. Shot him at noon and finally had all the meat out at 2:00 am. Nothing about it was fun. Next morning I had to go back and get the cape and antlers. I was so tired and sore that I seriusly thought about leaving it out there. No fun at all!

Kaare, them scrapes will pick up again in about a week. Next week is always a good time for a whitetail hunter to pop a good one.

I'd imagine. That would have to be a HUGE chore. Call the nearest helicpoter service and hope for a daily discount? :D

Depends where you drop them but it's all part of moose hunting....and something that gives a man a great sense of satisfaction when it's done. Yes they are big, you just take your time, nothing hard about it really, just everything is on a much bigger scale. 2 guys can have one completely quartered in a couple hours, it's just moving the meat that is the hard part. Kaare where you are you have pretty good ATV access don't you if needed? That would be a snap if you can get a wheeler close to one.

Moose meat is FANTASTIC btw!

You couldn't have it worse then we did in 2003 when we brought 2 bulls out from 8 miles deep into the BWCA via canoe and endless portages. I would do it again in a second. Awesome experience. Probably my favorite hunt of all time.

Get after it Kaare! A 50"+ moose would look awesome in your man-cave!:way:
