Drop away rest

I'm finally going to step into the current century now that my archery season is complete and purchase a drop away rest. I've been looking closely at the Ripcord at the local shop. Also the NAP quick tune has my attention. Most of the rests look pretty equal in design to me. I like how you can snap the Ripcord into position if you like. Any opinions out there that could help me out? As a side note, the Trophy Ridge vertical drop rest looks pretty cool anyone shoot one of those?

Trophy Taker!

I have never found a reason to try anything other than the Trophy Taker rests which I have been using for a few years now. I am sure the rests you mention may be OK but I cannot help you with them since I have not tried them. Should you decide to try a Trophy Taker, I do not think you would be disappointed.

Spot Hogg has a new one coming out called the Whammy I believe that I am going to look at but I can't say enough about the trophy taker...

I'm also studying up on drop away's right now. Bwhntr4life clued me in on these drop aways from QAD and I really like what I've been reading about them. I really like the "arrow-capture" design to ensure the arrow doesn't fall of the rest.

The shop I deal at stocks both of the two rests you mentioned. I know a lot of you guys use the trophy taker. I also like the total containment of the QAD. Decisions, decisions...

Trophy Taker doesn't call it the 'Shakey Hunter' model for nothing.. you have to turn the bow 90 degrees to get the arrow to jump off that rest...

I converted to the QAD ultra rest from a TT Shakey hunter. TT makes one heck of a rest and I have nothing bad to say about it but I absolutley love that new new QAD Ultra. It has been flawless in performance and is one of the quietest I've heard or seen.

No idea about the rest other than I've heard alot of good things. I shoot an APA twister safari. It's a full containment drop away. I have had no arrow clearance or any other problems at all. If I had to do it again I would have spent the extra few bucks to get the micro adjust. That's just me, I like to move the arrows that 1 last inch to put them dead center.

Ditto on that, have them on both my bows, just a word make sure you get the LD (Lock Down) model.
Never had mine do it but the non-LD model would supposedly "bounce" back up and contact the arrow after release.
Go with the LD and you will have no issues.

I have a ripcord on my xt, and I will put another on my drenalin...

Just go out and try a few, shoot them, handle them, and decide which one you like...

Basically the same as the QAD but saves on the pocket book

I have to disagree with you die hard TT fans, not on the point of great performance, because they are super accurate. The noise level is an issue. I sold my Shakey Hunter because of it.

Sorry TT guys, I know there are loads of you here. If you're wondering why you're bow sounds like someone slammed the lid on a metal trash can, look no further than your rest!!

Of course that's only my opinion.

I never thought my old Trophy Taker was "like a screen door slamming"

but I did move to a Trophy Ridge DropZone this last year. NO noise at all with the Drop Zone and very little on the TT, especially with a little felt added.

I use the NAP Quik Tune.. and its a great rest... but ive also used the trophy takers.. and honestly.. i think they are equal.... my moms bf uses the trophy taker on his mathews classic and i use the NAP quik tune on my Hoyt Xtec.. and they both work beautifully!! go for either.. u wont be disappointed!!!

Trophy Taker Pronghorn here. Awesome rest. I use a small piece of foam on my riser to keep the rest from clanking the shelf. No noise issues ...
