DSD decoy motion issue solving

I've been racking my brain trying to come up with something simple and easy to get motion in my decoys since my strutti'n 360 finally gave out. I was thinking about just taking fishing line and wrapping it around the decoy then using a reel to reel in the line getting the decoy to spin.

Then it hit me just attach a spool of line to the bottom of the decoy. As long as the rod would fit through the hole in the spool if figured it would be simple. So after the boys track meet I got to it.

Here is what I came up with my first try.

Took it out in the yard and it worked perfectly. Took back inside and decided to add to it when I took it apart and tried to put it back together. I added two more screws to stop it so it was tight over the stake hole. Putting the stake in locks it in.

I'm using rubber band to keep the line from falling off the spool.

Then I had to trim a set of wings down so they won't catch the line.

May be a little cheesy but I'm gonna give it a run after work tomorrow.

If you see something I can change or do different to make it better don't be afraid to help me out:)

I think I would almost convert it like the Zink 360. I would remove the fishing line to have the empty spool. I would then take some rope that is kind of grippy and wrap it around the spool 3 or 4 times. I would then run both ropes back to the blind. You would then pull on the one side of the rope which would put tension on the spool while feeding the other rope with tension to keep the loop tight around the spool which will turn it. You should be able to move it either way that you wanted easily versus just one way with fishing line set up.

So if you are putting your deke at 6 yards you would need about 40ft of rope and right in the center of that rope is where you would wrap it around the spool 3 or 4 times and then the sides would run back to the blind.

What you got looks like it would work well. I like rocking the side to side action and not sure if you can do it with the fishing line set up as it looks like it would only spin one way.

Just a thought.

The back and forth movement would be nice. Friend is working on a stake to get that.

I like how this is self contained. No winding up rope,or tangled rope to deal with. It is also small and easy to setup.

I'm sure I'll have some kinks to work out. I need some movement in my deke and I think this will work.
Turkeys are easy to kill I just can't seem to get it done this year:rolleyes:

I am in the process of developing a blind that looks like a strutting turkey. That way I can just pick up the party and move over to them. Hope they don't mind the strutter is 20 times the size of them like the magnum goose decoys that are blinds lol.

Maybe you guys should just make a blind that looks like a cow that you can pick up and walk over to them. :drink1::way:
