About burned my entire house. It was sitting in my backpack along with a new bucksin coat, 4 hunting dvd's, and my release. I took my release out to go shoot. I was sitting inside putting field tips on my arrows when smoke starting poor in the house. I ran out to the porch just in time to see 4ft flames coming out of my pack. I didn't even blink and thre the pack outside. Appearantly when I took my release out, the camera slid down on top of the battery and pushed the springs together. Even I can figure out what happend next. Let this be a lesson to those of you who's camera's take 6volt batteries. Keep them hooked up inside the camera when transporting. I got lucky and only lost about $300 worth of replaceable hunting equipment instead of my entire house!

Acid leak???

Yea been there done that. Nice little welding fire. Thats what happens when you short the + and the - of the same battery.

Same principal as a 9 volt in your pants pocket and a quarter! Toasty.

Only difference is the 6 volt battery has alot more power.

Throw your entire ring of keys on top of that and you're dancing around on the side of a gravel road. NOT funny that day.

Man thats a bad deal Doublerack. Luckily you had the stuff out on the porch and not in your room or something. You would probably still be smelling it. At least you only lost a few things that you could replace. Still a bummer though.

Wow...sorry for the loss, but man, thank the good Lord nothing happened to your house or anything else!

Wowza. You should send the cam back to the company with a sticky note that says, "Look what your camera done." And see if they send you a new one.

So lucky, you didnt walk out of the house and jump in the vehical to go up town...

Sucks on what you lost, but theres always that other side of it. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I would be glad to replace $300 instead of the alternative.

Well, I rangled up another battery and was amazed that the camera still works! I'm going to try to silicone some plexiglass on the back and put it out.
oh.... I'm pretty sure the old battery is shot though /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
