Early Muzzy progress

How is the season going for the early ML guys? 7500 tags sold and not one harvest photo yet?
I gave up shotgun for ML in the mid 90's and have opted for the late season since '03. Killed some nice ones early though and thought about trying it again this year.
Are the warm temps killing the buck activity so far?

I freshened up a scrape line on Sun. afternoon hopeing to get some good trailcam shots. A "BUDDY" of mine came in Mon. a.m. and shot a 142" 10 pt. about 100 yards from my camera. ....Lesson learned KEEP YOUR BIG MOUTH SHUT!!!!!!!!!! ha-ha. I dont know if he took any pics though. Set another stand today and its on come Tues. eve. I agree its still too warm but a blind sow can still find an acorn now and then!

Saw more than I expected. Had a 150+ @ 179 yards in the thick brush straight on...not a very high percentage shot (especially for me).

i shot a 160 pound doe on sat night... fill that doe tag....

I'm changing my tactics this afternoon based on what I saw last night.

Went out Saturday morning and filled my two doe tags - figured I'd get those out of the way. Sat Sunday morning and didn't see a thing. I'm hoping for cooler temps this weekend. Supposed to be some cooler weather coming Wednesday I think - may have to sneak out of work early

.

Good luck to everyone.

I picked up a landowner early muzzleloader antlerless, opting to save the any sex for the late muzzle season. Filled tag Saturday evening with a nice doe. Boned out and in the frig.

I've been hunting about 1500 acres of public ground & it has been rough going. I have been out from 6 am to 7:30 pm & have not seen anything w/ antlers. I have walked all the tree lines of the south 1/2 & haven't seen one rub or scrape. Did see one scrape on the north 1/2, no rubs.
Where have the bucks gone? There are does everywhere. Hope to fill my tags this coming weekend.

my stratagy worked better than i hoped for except for one thing. human error. i missed. since i started using inlines 10 years ago this was the 1st time i ever missed. a standing still broadside shot at 70 yards on a 160 or 70 inch deer. i don't know what happened.....

Tough luck man, what are you shooting for a gun? I've done the same thing on a couple big ones and switched guns, I've been shooting a BK92 since 1992 when it came out don't think I missed since getting it, at least nothing big.

I have 2 Knights. Both were dialed in 2 monthes ago but I carried one in Alaska for 12 days so It may have gotten bumped off. I hav'nt shot it since I got back. I switched to the other one for the rest of the season. Last time I shot it I broke the same hole with 3 shots at 100 yards.

If your gun is shooting that good, I'd go and look for that buck past the 150 yards where you said you saw him turn the corner. What was past where where you last saw him go?
