Early season

It just dawned on me today that if you hunt in a heavy agricultural area (outside of big timber areas), it may be a very slow start to the season since the corn is going to be in the ground until who knows when. Most farmers in my area were thinking they would be in the fields last week, but we just continue to get hit with rain shower after rain shower. The ground needs it, but it would be nice to get the crops started. Doesn't make a difference to me though, I'll be in the stand whether there is corn and beans in the ground or not!

I'm not a big early season hunter but I like to get out and smack a doe or two if the weather is cool. I guess it doesn't matter to me if the crops are in or not. If I'm in a stand, I'm happy.

I was at the local bar the other night talking to some farmers and they all say "bring on more rain!" I think last year spooked all of them.
