For all of you who are doing videos, and I know some of you on here are really into this, What do you use for editing?

We are filming now, we have purchased a camera, so to be looking for a new arm, and are starting to get some footage. Now we come to this problem. I have never done any of this stuff, and after being ready to give in from frustration yesterday morning attempting to get set up to film, we have video, and no idea what to do with it!

So there must be software to mess with, but any suggestions for a beginner?

Is there something that does a good job and is easy to work with? The camera is taking me 4 months to learn, I need easier software!!!!

HELP!!!

For the amateur video there is some software from Adobe. Go to Adobe.com and check their software. However for the good quality stuff the word on the street is that you need a Mac Computer because software made for that computer is easier to use and higher quality.

Andy,
If you have a MAC with iMovie or iDVD it is easy to use and let you do a lot of basic things and put together a decent DVD. Final cut pro is probably used the most with after effects. Pretty steep learning curve but awesome and limitless as to what you can do. Pinnacle also makes a editing system that is used often.

MACs are the way to go with graphics.

My graphic designers at the printing shop love their macs, but I struggle to check my email on them!! Is there a good PC version? Or would you just buy a mac... (p.s. It would really hurt me to buy a mac after all the smack I have talked about them for years)

You can use windows movie maker which is on the xp system. It is simple and you can make a good video out of. I have done it with several of our films and they look just as good as the ones on t.v. It is pretty self explanitory It breaks the film into clips then you drag and cut all with the mouse. You can do voice over and add music it is pretty cool. Hope this helps

One of my buddies uses a MAC and I was pretty impressed with it, he has used it to make a couple alaska fishing and huntin dvds.

If you don't have a Mac windows movie maker is simple enough to get the job done. I create a ton of edited video during track season in the spring of the athletes I work with.
Again, not the best quality but if I can figure it out so can you.
