I live not far from there near wellsburg. Theres LOTS of public ground in Hardin co. to stomp around on, most of it along the Iowa River. Theres super channel catfishing on the river, as well as some flatheads, and decent walleye, too. You can tube from Steamboat Rock to Eldora during summer, which usually involves copius amounts of beer and a nasty sunburn. Not that Ive ever done that...

I was supposed to live there for 3 years but they let me out early....
Anyways, a good bit of my family is in Steamboat Rock and surrounding areas. Pine Lake is very cool and there is a fair amount of good timber, like others have said. The Iowa River is pretty cool, too!
