Electronic Wizzes!!

I have a question and hope someone on her might be able to help. I have three stealth cams that just recently quit flashing. I am positive the flash is burned out and was wondering if I can change the flash on my cameras with a new flash. I sent Stealth Cam an email but still haven't heard back from them. They are out of warranty and still work fine just no flash.

Also if it is possible I would like to try to change them to IR but if it isn't possible I would settle for the flash. Just thought it would be cheaper to fix them my self. I have a little electronic back ground just enought to change things a little. Either way hope someone could help me out and explain to me how to fix my problem.

Thanks.

It may take a bit of cobbling pieces but I would think that you could wire the flash from a disposable camera into it. People have been using them for slaves on homebrews and I did once read about a guy that wired one into an existing camera to give it a brighter flash.
I picked up a few disposables a few years ago at a camera shop after they had been developed. They just gave them to me.

I tore open my Moultrie D40 when the flash quit working and it was outside of warranty. I figured I might be able to see a part number on the flash, then order it off the internet. As I was tearing into it, I started worrying about discharging the flash capacitor with my finger, which I think might hurt slightly. Then, when I didn't see any part number on the flash bulb, I started wondering what if it is the capacitor or some other electronic component? Tossed the pile of parts in the trash.

I have no electronics training, you mentioned you do, so you got a head start. Good luck.

Never thought of that and it sounds like it could be a winner. I will have to take it back apart and look at it. I think I might be able to figure that out and I was thinking of doubling it up or maybe a strobe light wired into where the flash is that sits outside of the unit. Either way it gives me some good ideas and thanks for the insight!!!

Let you know how it turns out.

Thanks
