Elite Draw length

Just wondering how much adjustment Elite bows have on their modules. I know the mods jump in 1/2" increments (i.e. 27", 27.5", 28", etc). But is there any adjustment to get between the 1/2" jump, and if so, how much?

As far as I can tell, my current bow (not an Elite) is set for 28". I bought it used, and didn't make any changes to it. I've had someone tell me it is "a little long, but ok". I have calculated my recommended draw length at 27.7" (armspan / 2.5), so I'm wondering if I can get somewhere close to this on either the 27.5" or the 28".

Btw...using a string d-loop and caliper style wrist release, if that matters. Thanks guys!

Your always better to go shorter than longer fit wise. every elite ive seen has been pretty much right on. If i were in your shoes i wouls opt for the 27 1/2 mods.

Better to be too short than too long on the DL. You can fine-tune things by adding or removing twists from the strings and cables to get an exact length you are after. It's not hard to do but you will need a bow press.

Ok. My current bow has pegs on the module to increase/decrease the length by a certain amount (not sure if this is 1/4" or 1/2"). Wasn't sure if Elites had anything like this or draw stops to make adjustments. I'm not an expert on bows, so wasn't sure of all the ways to fine tune the length. Sounds like I'd be better off with the 27.5".

The elites do have movable draw stops or at least my GT 500 does. These are not peg holes such as other bows but a screw but on a slider which gives very detailed adjustments.

The draw stops do affect the draw length but the primary purpose of the draw stop is to adjust let off percentage. Those two characteristics are linked together when you adjust the stops. Pick the let off you want and tweak the DL in other ways.

The modules are in 1/2" increments. Most shops will swap modules for free so you should be able to try them.

There are no other mechanical adjustments you can make on the Elite bows to tweak the DL except for adding or removing twists from strings and cables. It might all sound horribly complicated but it's not too bad.

The correct DL for you is how it feels for you and what makes you the most accurate. In the archery world, accuracy isn't possible without holding and shooting the bow the exact same way every time. The formulas are intended as a starting point to get you close. Other factors, like strings stretching over time or hot/cold season, will make it extremely difficult to lock-in at an exact DL.

The formula that gave you 27.7 is only a starting point. I'd try a 27.5 and see how it feels. The Elites are pretty easy to tweak so whatever you need can be done.

Thanks guys. Anyone know what the usual cost is to have a bow set up/tuned? I can mount everything, but not sure I can tune it as good as a pro. I know this might be included in the cost of the bow if buying from the same shop that does the work, but if someone were to purchase elsewhere and bring to their local shop? If it was a new bow, any chance the shop would trade mods for no extra cost?
