Ever experienced this???

In talking with my brother-in-law yesterday going to and from hunting. He had an experience on Thrusday nite I have never heard of. He was sitting up in a walnut tree when he spied a shooter buck coming his way. He had ample time to get up and get ready for the shot. As the buck got to within 40 yards he came upon a tree in which we have a trail cam. He stopped about 2 yards from the trail cam looked at it and proceeded to walk around the back side of the tree and down the hill behind him offering no shot. Did this buck know the trail cam was there and remembered the flash and didn't like it or just a little bashful about getting his pic taken??

BTW the wind was at the deers back and the way he entered the stand was not a factor in any possible scenting. Plus he did not go down any trail just walked away and then around the back side out of range. Damn them things is smart.

Any ideas or similar observations??

The question I have is did you have pics of that buck? If not, he did not know it was there. The other thing that I wonder about all the time is did he see something on a tree that was not a natural part of the tree, ie the trail cam. Was the outline of the trail cam just enough to make him change direction? If he doesn't like what he sees, we all know the result.

I had a button buck spot my camera last year about 20 yards from a stand. He circled all around it a couple times, then decided to take a closer look. When that flash went off, he was he almost flew the first 25 yards. Eventually, he returned, but skirted the camera. I know young deer can be goofy, but it sounds like a similar experience. It was very fun to watch.

We don't know if we have him on film yet (he pulled the camera after the hunt) we should have the pics developed and back tomorrow nite at the latest. It will be interesting to see if he is photogenic tho..
