Extended antlerless season

So I noticed my county has a few hundred leftover doe tags which is definitely a great reflection on the herd size this year after over harvesting and EHD. Are only the tags purchased tomorrow or whenever they go on sale for the extra season valid? I’m just curious so I can keep an eye on how many tags are actually bought.

Yeah, I’ve been watching the real. Time quota and thank goodness some people are actually using better judgment this year because they’ve only sold three tags in the last few weeks.

So many things are wrong with this season. A couple of big ones are shed bucks and poachers. A small % of hunters will see a giant and shoot him with their high powered rifle in this season. Not to mention in many areas the population is way down. Iowa gets a lot of things right, but this season is not one of them.

I see 21 counties still have tags left. Five with over 500 hundred tags and Wayne county over a 1000 according to the chart.

Me and two buddies went to union county and shot 3 does last weekend. We hunted one of the guys family property and had a great time. I know a lot of people don’t support this season. I think you should do what’s in you or your properties best interest

How were deer #’s?

Deer numbers there were pretty good in my opinion.
I do think there are pockets of “a lot” of deer- but I have to say on my Allamakee farm for example- we get 1 doe pic a day right now on 40 acres and 4 cameras running. 5 years ago it was 40-50 pictures a day.
My home farm, I’ve got 40 does/fawns a night right now- but that’s literally the whole river bottom for a few miles for the most part. I know that though so I can’t say “the numbers are good”. Typically I have about 8 deer on my home farm a night.(this is not meant as a direct reply- just how it pops up on my phone)
I believe we break 100,000 deer today on harvest numbers.

I shot a doe during the last week of muzzy season. Took it to milo last night. The drop off cooler was plum full and there were even deer outside of the cooler on the concrete.
