When I lived in minnesota and was dark house spearing, i would use a 3-5 lbs chub for a decoy if I could find one. I would have 5 lbs northerns striking it all the time. Pretty funny to watch.

Last year in the Quetico, we watched a 12 lb. pike choke on a 4 lb. small mouth. Unreal what they will try to choke down.

your in a ice house with all the windows blacked out so you can see in the water. you "drop" a spear with a big weight behind the head and spear fish.

I've cut some pretty big whitefish out of 3-5 lb northerns. I love them things. People thing I'm crazy when they see my big cranks...anyone who sees that pic knows better.
