face paint vs. face mask

For some reason the face mask makes me sneeze and is not comfortable, so i thought about going with face paint this year. Never bought it before or worn it, any particular things i should know before i go buy some or before i slop that stuff all over my face.

I like the HS brand. I would suggest keeping some baby wipes in the truck if you don't want to drive around looking like you've been eating mud. They take it off pretty good.

Stand proud put on the paint. hunt than go out to eat. dont be ashamed!

Seriously though I love the paint. I hate facemasks, and puttin on the war paint is kinda fun. I use the carbon stuff from cabelas, the HS stuff is good too!

I use the HS brand when deerhunting, can't stand a mask all day but will pull one up when I have a bird responding to call.Timekiller is right with the wipes,I have a container od WetOnes in the trucks to use to wipe the paint off,and they are nice to have on hand for cleaning up after a gut job.

Read in a magazine and just use the soot from the burnt end of a cork

This what the commandos used in WW2. Absolutely nonrefelective and you get to enjoy a good bottle of wine in the process, that is unless your wine tops screw off like mine. As far as water proof, sweat proof or skin irritant, I can't say. We should probably test it on some rabbits first.

During bow season, every time I wore paint, no bucks showed up. Everytime with a facemask, bruisers chasing. So I don't know. I love the facepaint though, I'll have to try the baby wipes.

As far as "war paint" not sure on brand. I've never looked it could be on the packaging but go dark on the high's(shiny parts of the face9tip of nose checks and such)), go light on the shadows of the face.

I wear glasses so i think i pretty much have to use a mask. I think the glasses would stick out like a sore thumb with only paint on. I don't like the way they fog up on some days.

Two words: "Dry eyes".

Cornfed fixed me up with contacts a few years ago. I could see much better, but I had a bad problem with dry eyes. I went back to glasses. I may try 'em again though, I understand there are better contacts out there now for dry eyed folks like me.

On another note, there was a guy at the classic this past year who was selling lens anti-fog stuff. He finally conned me into trying it. He sprayed some on my lenses and said "these are anti refelctive lenses and you can't put anti fog stuff on anti reflective lenses". He handed them back to me and it took a very thoughrough (is that even a word?) cleaning to get the crap off of my lenses. So that would explain why all the stuff I've tried on my lenses for anti fog doesn't work.
