Failed Plot - Next Steps?

Rough year for my destination plot. It was a new farm and I had to rely on others with implements who ultimately let me down on timing. I put in 2-3 acres of Dbltree's Brassica mix in early September, didn't do anything with the drought. Tried saving the ground in late Oct. with winter rye which also failed due to lack of rain. The plot is still mostly bare ground but fescue came back more than I care to deal with.

I have 2 acres worth of Alice White clover seed to plant on this ground and want to keep this part all clover (will be working other contiguous ground for a balanced year-round plot - i.e. Dbltree's rotation).

My question is - should I just frost-seed and chemically fight the cool season grasses... or after spring thaw, kill the grasses with gly, retill and plant the clover with a cover grain? The winter rye seed is probably still in the ground.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Unless you like to fight weeds, I would NOT retill in the spring...repeat, do NOT retill in the spring.:D

By the sounds of that I would frost seed clover and be ready to use some Select to fight grasses and the mower to knock the weeds back, maybe a couple times. I would NOT retill though. :D
